The polyethylene pipe has been reinforced by wrapping the high strength steel wire in the middle layer. It results the pipe wo rking pressure could easily reach 5Mpa (D≤φ110), 3Mpa (D≤φ200), 2Mpa (D≤φ500) when you use PE80 grade polymer. Process
The polyethylene core tube has been produced firstly. Then the pipe will go through the steel wire winding unit to the outside layer extruders. Steel wire bobbins are installed in two round plate, the plate rotate one in clockwise a nd the other in opposite direction. So the wire will wrap on the core tube as a steel me sh. The second extruder coats the adhesive resin on steel for binding of steel and plastic. And then the outer polyethylene layer will cover all steel mesh and core tube to make a finished composite pipe.
Reinforcement
The meshed steel wire located in the middle layer to be the reinforcement. This wire is a kind of high sthrength st eel wire which can provide the excellent pressure against property.
Steel wire, fiberglass, polyester fiber or ot her kinds of high stiffness fiber could be used as the medial reinforcement on the polyethylene pipe. With these strengthening materials, the working pressure resistance of the composite pipe is obviously raised compared with the same wall thickness normal PE pipe.
Binding material
The bond material coated on the steel wire is a kind of high performance modified HDPE adhesive resin. This thermal resin is easily merged with polyethylene; further more, the polar-link-key of the resin provides an excellent bond property with steel atoms (200N/25mm,ASTMD903). This kind of resin has been widely used as boundary material between steel and HDPE in the many big project in China.
Steel-Plastic Binding
For the other composite polyethylene pipes, the most serious bug is that there is no binding interface between steel and PE. So that the steel wire or strip is only mechanically connected with the plastic, the crack will appears at the boundary of the two different materials under the circumstance temperature stress and inner pressure stress. And if the cutting section of pipe is not sealed well, the water can go inside the composite layers between two PE layers, and then break the pipe from the thin single layer under the even low pressure.
