SELF CENTERING SHAFT VICES- MODEL NO. 1034
The vice consists of a base and two movable jaws made out of close grained high grade cast iron with Brinnel Hardness of 180 and above, machined and hand scraped to close tolerances. The V-Blocks are made out of alloy steel case hardened and ground accurately. The screw rod is made of alloy steel toughned for wear resistance and long life. The nuts are made of phosphor bronze.
Both Movable jaws move simultanously by means of a single screw rod with LH & RH threads engaged in respective nuts, thus ensuring self centring in both vertical & horizontal planes. Double sided 'V Blocks which are mounted on movable jaws facilitate clamping of shafts of varing diameters with in the specified range.
Once the vice is aligned on the machine the center line of shaft held in the vice remains constant irrespective of the diameter within the range of V-Block. Two vices can be used as matched pair for clamping of long shafts. The vice can be supplied with special V-Blocks for clamping of shafts vertically.
These vices are very useful for all machine shops and tool rooms for clamping of shafts on milling, drilling and boring machines. They can also be used for inspection and marking on surface plates.
