Fluid Bed Dryer

Brief:

A fluidized bed is formed when a quantity of a solid particulate substance (usually present in a product container) is placed under appropriate conditions to cause the solid / binding agent mixture to behave as a fluid. This is usually achieved by the introduction of pressurized fluid through the particulate medium. This results in the product move up and down and disperse into the air between the filter bag housing and the product container.

The resulting phenomenon is called fluidization. Fluidized beds are used for several purposes, such as simple Dryers, Granulation, coating etc.

Advantages of fluid bed dryer

• Extremely high surface area contact between fluid and solid per unit bed volume
• High relative velocities between the fluid and the dispersed solid phase.
• High levels of intermixing of the particulate phase.
• Frequent particle-particle and particle-wall collisions
• Faster drying compared to conventional tray dryers.
• Ease in loading , unloading & transporation.

All fluid bed dryers are available in Std model (contact parts in Stainless steel and non contact parts in mild steel) , Gmp model ( complete machine in stainless steel with contact parts in SS 316 & non contact parts in SS 304. Mode of heating will be either steam heated or electrically heated. Heating with thermic fluid, Hot air generator heating system are also available. Electrically heated models are availabe only upto 150 kgs capacity.
