Filter Press API (LPLT)
Place of Origin:Zhejiang China (Mainland) | Brand Name:RIGCHINA | Model Number:FPA-5 API |
The RIGCHINA low pressure filter press design features a cell body to hold the mud sample, a pressure inlet, and a base cap with screen and filter paper. Suitable for field and laboratory use, these units have become the industry standard for low pressure/low temperature filtration testing.
RIGCHINA also manufactures other types of filter press units and inventories a full line of replacement and consumable parts. Stainless steel cases are available for most of the units. When several tests must be run simultaneously, as in a laboratory environment, multi-units are available in either two, four, or six- cell designs. These multi-units come complete with manifolds and all necessary air hoses and bleed-off valves. The field portable units are supplied with various pressurization assemblies and manifolds and rely mainly on carbon dioxide bulbs and nitrogen gas to provide pressure. The American Petroleum Institute (API) recommends a standard 100 ± 1.0 psi (690 ± 6.9 kPa) cell pressure be applied within 30 seconds for a 30 minute test.
Measuring filtration behavior and wall-cake building characteristics of a mud is essential to drilling fluid control and treatment. The characteristics of the filtrate, such as oil, water or emulsion content, are also fundamentally important. The types and quantities of solids in the fluid and their physical and chemical interactions affect these characteristics. Temperature and pressure in turn affect the physical and chemical interactions. It is therefore necessary to run tests at both low-pressure/low-temperature and high-pressure/high-temperature. Each of these testing conditions requires different equipment and techniques. The most effective means of determining the filtration properties of drilling muds and cement slurries
The Series RCS-5A APT Low Pressure Low Temperature (LPLT) Filter Press consists of a mud reservoir mounted in a frame, a pressure source, a filtering medium, and a graduated cylinder for receiving and measuring filtrate. The basic unit has a cell assembly constructed of rustproof anodized aluminum and chrome plated brass, and includes the required screen and gaskets.
Working pressure is 100 psig and the filtering area is 7.1-in2, as specified in the American Petroleum Institute, API Recommended Practice 13B-1 and 13B-2.
