1. In the coconut milk powder production line, YPG Pressure Spray Dryer is widely used for drying coconut milk.
2.General description of spray drying:
Spray dryingis a method of producing a dry powder from a liquid or slurry by rapidly drying with a hot gas. This is the preferred method of drying of many thermally-sensitive materials such as foods and pharmaceuticals. A consistent particle size distribution is a reason for spray drying some industrial products such as catalysts. Air is the heated drying medium; however, if the liquid is a flammable solvent such as ethanol or the product is oxygen-sensitive then nitrogen is used
All spray dryers use some type of atomizer or spray nozzle to disperse the liquid or slurry into a controlled drop size spray. The most common of these are rotary disks and single-fluid high pressure swirl nozzles. Alternatively, for some applications two-fluid or ultrasonic nozzles are used. Depending on the process needs, drop sizes from 10 to 500 µm can be achieved with the appropriate choices. The most common applications are in the 100 to 200 µm diameter range. The dry powder is often free-flowing
Spray Dryingis still the most economical method of evaporation to reduce a liquid feed to solid powder particles. Powder remaining one of the most versatile methods of preservation and cost effective in both storage and transportation of finished goods.
3.Application in coffee extract spray drying:
Relevant process: In general instant coconut powder adopts wet-process method. In wet-process method, raw material is fresh coconut meat. We can get needed coconut oil, and we also can get other auxiliary product from it: protein of coconut powder, carbohydrate and vitamin.
Remove the shell of mellow coconut, get coconut meat from separation, and then chip off the episperm covers coconut meat, then extract peel oil from episperm as by-product. Coconut meat is crushed by crusher, and then shredded coconut meat is squeezed out coconut milk by pressofiner. Coconut milk is transferred to filter through sieve pore, and then separate coconut oil by heating separation, moisture content of coconut oil is 0.1%~0.2%. In general, we can get 6.8thigh quality coconut oil from 25t fresh coconut meat. Then concentrate the coconut milk to 30% of original volume by 76°C evaporator. Then use spray dryer to dry concentrated coconut milk and collect the protein, carbohydrate and other auxiliary product.
In general, melting point of coconut oil is 24°C—27°C, freezing point is 19°C—22°C, so flash point is also lower. So even in the well separated coconut milk, there is still a proportion of the coconut oil. So when design the spray dryer, we should consider theexplosion-proof measure.
