I.Composition and Features of Solid State HF Welder
1.Brief Introduction of solid state HF welder
QGT-1 series solid state H.F welder is specially designed for straight seam welding. It adopts high power components of US IR IRFP460 MOSFET and Germany IXYS Company DSEI60-06A rapid recovery diode.The high power capacitor C and inductor coil L compose current-mode parallel upper-voltage resonance circuit, which doesn’t need output transformer. Thus, it not only improves the efficiency, but also increases the reliability of the welder.
The solid state H.F welder has such distinct features as energy-saving, effective welding, simple structure, easy maintenance, low failure rate, low maintenance cost etc.
2. Performance introduction of the QGT-1 series solid state H.F welder
2.1DC Power Unit
DC Power Unit includes rectify, flight wave and control parts. 3-phase full-controllable thyristor rectifying bridge and flight wave reactor, flight wave capacitor, and filter ensure stable DC output and guarantees high quality welding.
Current meter, voltage meter and control system are equipped in the DC power unit. Thus the welder is controllable even without central control unit.
Output DC voltage 0-235V is continuously adjustable and has soft start and time constant setting.
2.2 Inverter Output Unit
The inverter part is made up by MOSFET single phase invert unit connected in parallel. The power of each pair of units is 50KW. The pairs of units adopt the building block method to realize power superposition (from 50KW to 1000KW). Each unit has self-diagnostics ability. All the design is to ensure easy installation and maintenance.
Automatic load matching system ensures the most efficiency and lowest mill cost. Furthermore, the welding transformer is not needed.
The protection circuits are specially designed. It can ensure the stability and safety of the welder, even in open and short circuit condition. Also it can afford coils arcing to reduce mill stop.
2.3 Central Control Unit
Installed with LCD, power and speed adjust module; indicate the output current and voltage of the DC power unit; armature voltage and current, excitation voltage and current of the DC speed adjust unit. The pipe line can be completely controlled by the central control unit.
2.4 Water-water Heat Exchange Unit
Composition:Plate heat exchanger, water tank, pump and electrical control part.
Working principle: The internal cooling is called inner water (distilled water), and the external cooling is called outer water (ordinary water). External and inner water exchange through the plate heat exchanger to reduce the temperature of the inner water. Thus, the equipment inside is cooled.
Features:
A. Seal circulation, outer water (normal) cools down the inner water (distilled water), no scaling.
B. High efficiency of heat radiation, low cost, applicable to large power H.F equipment.
C. Reservoir is used for outer water.
2.5 Rectifier isolation transformer
It is the input rectifier part of the equipment. It reduces the input voltage from 415V to 200V to ensure stable power supply, at the same time, to insulate the power grid.
3. Features of solid state H.F welder
There are good reasons why solid state welders have displaced vacuum tube welders in the pipe and tube industry. These include higher efficiency, higher reliability, improved safety, and more installation flexibility.
3.1 Simple circuit and flexible installation
Using series-parallel complex resonance circuit, the power only needs to connect main circuit cable between rectifier power supply and the transformer and inverter unit. The installation only needs 2-3 days under good support of the user.
3.2 Complete protection and easy maintenance
Equipment has perfect failure alarm and fault display system. Once there is a failure, the LCD can show the fault location clearly, so that maintenance personnel can quickly find out the cause of the failure and troubleshoot.
3.3Small harmonic interference, no pollution to the power grid
With the transformer, RC and LC filter network, the harmonic of solid state H.F welder is small.
When solid state H.F welder operates at full power, the power factor can reach 0.9 or more.
3.4 High efficiency, power saving and less cooling water
Compared with the vacuum tube welder, the solid state H.F can save 25%-30% power.
It doesn’t’ need reservoir for out water, thus, the cooling water consumption reduces by 70%.
3.5 Less welding spatter, good welding quality
The power supply waveform of solid state H.F is stable, and the steel tube weld tends to be a straight line. The tests of drawing, flattening, flaring, water pressure and other performance are qualified.

III. Requirements for Equipment Operation
1. Environmental requirements
·Indoor installation with good grounding condition. Grounding wire color should be obviously different from control wires. Sectional area of grounding wire :> 120mm², grounding resistance: ≤4Ω.
·Height above sea level should be no more than 1000m, otherwise rated value should be reduced to be operated.
·Ambient temperature: -10°C~+45°C
·Air relative humidity: ≤85%.
·No severe vibration, no conductive dust, no various causticity gas and explosion gas.
·Installation gradient: ≤5°.
·Install in the place with good ventilation condition.
2.Power grid requirements
·Power grid voltage should be sine wave, harmonics distortion: ≤5%.
·Imbalance degree between 3-phase voltage:<±5%.
·Power grid input voltage is line voltage AC 400~410V, continuous fluctuation range: ≤±10%, power net frequency variation: ≤±2% (i.e. between 49 ~ 51Hz).
3.Water quality requirements for external circulation water pool
The water quality for external circulation water pool will directly affect the operation of water-water cooling equipment, and even the reliability of the equipment. So it is suggested that the user adopts running water for outer pool, and the associated requirements are as below:
·The water quality should be transparent, no turbidity, deposit and scale. The water pipe for water should be prevented from fouling
·The cooling pool should be no impurity so as to prevent the water pipe of water-water cooling equipment from fouling which can influence the heat exchange capability.
·Install cooling tower for cooling pool to guarantee the water temperature of water-water cooling equipment meets the requirements.
·Inlet water pressure: 0.25~0.3MPa (approximately 2.5~3kg/cm²).
IV.Warranty Period
12 months from the date of the equipment is qualified to be commissioned by the Seller’s technician at the Buyer’s site. Or 18 months from the date of the equipment leaves the factory of the seller,which first comes, first serves.
