This carbon crucible, also called Carbon Carbon, C/C crucible or CFC crucible, is used in Cz thermal field (monocrystalline silicon furnance) to replace graphite crucible. The crucible could hold and protect quartz crucible in a more stable and reliable way (compared with graphite one), and generate better monocrystalline silicon.
