The quartz sand filter is a pressure-driven filter, utilizing ABS water strainer in mushroom shape or spherical perforated plate equipped with water distribution at quartz sand bedding layer gradation, filled in with filter material of refined arenaceous quartz in several sizes, to have small resistance and large flux. The materials filled in the filter are utilized to intercept and remove suspended particulates and colloidal impurities. The filter is designed for reverse osmosis, electrodialysis, ion exchange, pre-treatment prior to softening and demineralization, and coarse filtration of industrial water supply and treatment of circulating cooling water, sewage and recycled grey water, which doesn’t have high requirement for water quality.

When the differential pressure of the inlet and outlet is increased due to dirt on the filtering layer of the filter, the filtering layer could be flushed backward by water (or water + compressed air), so as to make the filtering layer’s capacity of intercepting and capturing suspended substance recovered.
